Stone: red quartzite (origin - from the "Red Mountains" of Djebel
Akhmar, an area near Heliopolis)
Ritual run - Hatshepsut is "Seizing the Oar" for the ithyphallic Amun-Ra, King
of Gods. Here, on the northern side of the chapel she wears the Red Crown of
Lower Egypt.
Behind the running queen the signs are depicted which are typical for a ritual
run - three turning marks and symbols of protection (fan, hinges, scorpion,
and a sign for Amun).
