South Wall - Block No. 261


Stone: red quartzite (origin - from the "Red Mountains" of Djebel Akhmar, an area near Heliopolis)

Coronation-scenes of the 7th register, South-Wall, blocks 23, 71, 95, 114, 145, 154, 261).
In this scene Amun is fixing a Nemes-headscarf (nms) on the head of the queen (see also North-Wall Block 186). Hatshepsut is kneeling in front of Amun, the lion-headed goddess Weret-Hekau, "Lady of Heaven, Queen of the Two Lands" is shown standing in front of the pr-wr.


Note(s): according to Lacau und Chevrier, 1977,  the scene should been continued on the left side with a presentation of Thot which, however, had not survived.
